Hello and welcome!
I'm Colleen Perry, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 20 years of dedicated experience working with individuals, couples, and families. And truthfully—I still wake up each day grateful and energized by this work. It’s an incredible privilege to walk alongside people as they navigate challenges, deepen relationships, and reconnect with their sense of purpose and well-being. I often say I was a counselor long before I became one. Even as a teenager, I was the friend others turned to—a trusted listener who offered support over advice, never judged, and always kept confidence. Those qualities still define me today, both personally and professionally. Therapy, to me, is more than a skill—it’s a calling.
My academic foundation began at California Baptist University in Riverside, CA, where I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology in 2001, followed by a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology in 2004. Since then, my journey in this field has been shaped by a wide range of enriching experiences in both clinical and academic settings. Early in my college years, I had the opportunity to serve as a teaching assistant for CBU’s graduate counseling psychology program. I discovered a passion not just for helping clients, but for teaching and mentoring future therapists. One of the most meaningful relationships in my professional life grew from that role—my mentor, Dr. Gary Collins, saw something in me and encouraged me to step into teaching. I went on to serve as an adjunct professor in the School of Behavioral Sciences at CBU from 2007 to 2013, where I taught both undergraduate and graduate courses. It was a joy to foster critical thinking and lead engaging discussions about the complexities and beauty of Marriage and Family Therapy. In addition to my teaching background, I’ve also facilitated a variety of therapy and process groups, covering topics such as sexual abuse recovery, relationship boundaries, and work-life balance for professionals. I truly believe in the power of group work and peer connection—it often becomes a space for transformation, vulnerability, and shared strength.
As a therapist, I take a holistic and integrative approach, considering the whole person—body, mind, and spirit. My style is warm, compassionate, and non-judgmental, and I strive to create a space where clients feel safe, seen, and supported. I don’t believe therapy is about “fixing” people. Instead, it’s about uncovering the insight, clarity, and resilience already within you—so you can move forward with confidence and live a life that aligns with who you truly are. Outside of the therapy room, I consider myself a lifelong learner, a deep feeler, and someone who values authentic connection in all areas of life. This work is both my passion and my purpose. When I'm not nurturing clients, I enjoy gardening, long walks in nature, all things dogs, watching comedy, and a really good cup of coffee.
Thank you for taking the time to get to know a bit about me. If you’re considering therapy, I would be honored to walk alongside you on your journey toward healing, growth, and wholehearted living.
Warmly,Colleen Perry, LMFT
