Therapy for Depression with Colleen Perry, MFT
You don’t have to face this alone.
Depression can feel heavy—like a quiet weight you carry through your days. It can show up in unexpected ways: fatigue that doesn’t go away, changes in sleep or appetite, aches and pains with no clear cause, or a lingering sense of sadness, irritability, or disconnection. For some, it’s hard to find joy in things that once brought comfort. For others, even small tasks start to feel overwhelming.
If this sounds familiar, please know that what you’re feeling is valid—and more importantly, that healing is possible.
Depression is a complex condition that affects both the mind and body. It can be brought on by difficult life circumstances, trauma, grief, or it may run in families. It’s also often connected with anxiety, and can make it hard to concentrate, engage in relationships, or even get through the day. For many, depression can increase around major life transitions—such as postpartum changes—or during the darker months of the year.
Sometimes people cope by turning to alcohol, substances, or other behaviors in an effort to numb the pain. These are human responses to suffering—but over time, they can make things even harder.
In therapy, we’ll gently explore what depression looks like and feels like for you. There is no one-size-fits-all approach, and you won’t be met with judgment or pressure. Instead, you’ll find a safe and supportive space where we can work together to understand what’s happening beneath the surface, reconnect with your inner strength, and begin to restore hope.
Common emotional signs of depression include:
- Persistent sadness or apathy
- Feelings of guilt, shame, or worthlessness
- Emotional and physical exhaustion
- Irritability or withdrawal
- Difficulty concentrating or making decisions
Together, we’ll create a treatment approach that fits you and your life. This may include talk therapy, support around medication decisions, and small lifestyle shifts that help regulate mood and energy over time. Above all, our work will be guided by empathy, trust, and respect for your unique path.
You don’t have to walk this road alone. Reaching out for help is a powerful first step, and I’m here to walk alongside you as you move toward healing, connection, and relief.
