Working Through Conflict with Colleen Perry, MFT
Understanding your patterns. Finding your voice. Restoring connection.

Conflict is a part of life—it’s woven into our relationships, families, workplaces, and even our internal world. And yet, facing conflict can feel anything but simple. It can bring up anxiety, guilt, frustration, or even a fear of losing someone we care about. If you often find yourself avoiding confrontation, shutting down, getting reactive, or feeling like your voice doesn’t matter—you’re not alone. These responses often come from a deep desire to stay safe, be understood, or protect the connection we long for.

In therapy, we’ll gently explore how you experience conflict—what you’ve learned, how you tend to respond, and what underlying needs or fears may be shaping those patterns. Together, we’ll work toward shifting those dynamics, not with blame or judgment, but with understanding and compassion.

Here are some common ways people navigate conflict:

  • Avoiding it altogether, hoping it will fade—but carrying the weight of what’s unspoken
  • Pushing hard to be heard, often from a place of fear, urgency, or past hurt
  • Backing down to keep the peace, even when your needs are left unmet
  • Trying to compromise, but still feeling misunderstood or unseen
  • Seeking collaboration, where each person’s perspective is valued and considered

Learning how to work through conflict doesn’t mean you’ll always get it right or never feel discomfort—it means becoming more grounded in who you are, and learning how to express yourself in ways that are clear, respectful, and authentic.

In our work together, we’ll:

  • Explore your personal history with conflict and communication
  • Identify the roles, patterns, and beliefs that may be keeping you stuck
  • Practice setting boundaries with confidence and kindness
  • Develop communication tools that foster trust, clarity, and connection
  • Support you in showing up more fully in your relationships—with yourself and others

Conflict doesn’t have to be destructive. In fact, when approached with care, it can be an opportunity for deeper understanding, emotional growth, and stronger, more honest relationships.

You don’t have to figure this out alone. I’m here to support you in building the insight, confidence, and emotional tools to navigate conflict with greater ease and integrity—so you can feel more connected, empowered, and at peace in your life.
